| COMMUNITY EVENTS: |
June 1, 2008: TCIG Kicks off the Summer with Donations to the Shelter House Organization TCIG's summer community project is going to be a donation drive to benefit the Shelter House organization.
Shelter House is a private non-profit organization incorporated in 1981. Its mission is to provide temporary emergency housing and supportive services to homeless families in order to enable them to transition to permanent housing and a stable family life.
Shelter House provides: housing programs including parenting support; life skills; alcohol and drug services; Capital One financial management training; ESOL (English as a Second Language); job coaching; legal services; medical services; mental health services; and children's programs including after-school tutoring; reading programs; and weekend activities.
Shelter House carries out its mission in partnership with Fairfax County, local human services agencies, a wide variety of ecumenical groups and community organizations as well as private sector sponsors and friends.
Shelter House operates two family shelters in Fairfax County: the Patrick Henry Family Shelter in Seven Corners and the Katherine K. Hanley Shelter in Centreville.
| May 31, 2008: TCIG Participates in Relay For Life The Chief Information Group supports the ongoing fight against cancer by teaming up with "Relay For Life" for this year's Relay.
Relay For Life is an overnight event that brings the community together to help support the American Cancer Society and its lifesaving mission to eliminate cancer as a major health problem. The Society works hard every day to prevent cancer and save lives by supporting groundbreaking research, affecting public policies that protect us from cancer, and educating people on how to prevent or detect cancer early. The Society helps people with cancer right here in our own community, and our efforts at Relay For Life can help the American Cancer Society to keep working toward a cancer-free future.
| April 12, 2008: TCIG Rebuilds Alexandria The Chief Information Group, supported by over 15 volunteers, will take part in the next "Rebuilding Together Alexandria" community event.
Rebuilding Together Alexandria is a non-profit organization dedicated to
improving the quality of life for low-income, elderly and disabled
individuals and families in the Alexandria area. Founded in 1986,
Rebuilding Together Alexandria program helps repair and revitalize homes
year-round at no cost to the homeowner.
| March 3, 2008: TCIG Sponsors Stafford Baseball League The Chief Information Group joins over 2000 other members supporting the Stafford Baseball League (SBL). We are contributing to SBL's growth and success they have enjoyed in the past and will continue in the future.
SBL is a non-profit organization chartered for the sole purpose of providing a positive youth baseball program for the children of Stafford County and to promote the values of amateur sports: teamwork, friendship, and sportsmanship.
